Early Childhood Case Management
Early Childhood Case Management provides case management service to children birth to 7 years old who are at risk for developing mental health needs in the future.  Case managers work with children and their families to determine what their needs and concerns are and then provide resources and services to help them accomplish their goals.

Services may include outpatient counseling, intensive in-home, psychiatric, Developmental Pediatrics, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, etc.  Case managers can help families locate interventions and strategies that can help their children in the home environment with unwanted behaviors.  Case managers can also provide support with school meetings and doctor’s appointments.

Case Managers provide this service in the homes, community, preschools, Elementary schools and Head Start centers.  Case managers work with children and families in Giles, Floyd, Montgomery and Pulaski counties and the city of Radford.  Case management service is fully funded by Medicaid or by a sliding fee scale for those without Medicaid.

Head Start Services
Head Start services include case management and mental health consulting.  The goal is to improve the ability of a referred student to learn in the classroom by providing class support in the Head Start setting.  Head Start providers work with children one-on-one and in small groups to support children with social-emotional support.  Head Start providers also work closely with Head Start staff to support all the students in the various Head Start centers around the New River Valley.

Mental Health consulting is a service provided to all students, parents and Head Start staff.  They provide classroom observations, information, trainings, assessments, screenings, recommendations, one on one support and small group activities pertaining to social-emotional development.

Mental Health Consulting is provided for free to all Head Start students and those that also need more intensive support can be assessed for case management needs as well.
