The Recovery Center is a community-based program that offers Psycho-Social Rehabilitative (PSR) services to adults diagnosed with major mental health disorders. Located in Pulaski, the program serves individuals from throughout the New River Valley.

Our program incorporates structured PSR groups in various formats that offer wellness/recovery education and planning, daily community access opportunities, socialization/recreation activities, and special events. We offer a “drop-in” option for participants who may choose to attend the center without necessarily participating in formal groups, but who otherwise benefit from socialization and/or accessing center resources.

Focused on Recovery
The Recovery Center’s groups and activities place a concentrated emphasis on the Recovery Model, which empowers individuals with the responsibility of discovering and following their own pathway to healing – including pursuit of their own identified goals.

We take a holistic view of wellness, with a balanced inclusion of services and educational opportunities designed to promote well-being in the spheres of emotional, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual, occupational, financial, and environmental life. Our groups and activities have a strong focus on building self-esteem, with a broad array of supported opportunities for practicing personal and social responsibility through leadership, service to others, and community involvement according to one’s abilities and interests.

Community Partnerships & Opportunities:
During the course of a typical day, participants may choose to use both the “drop-in” and PSR options, based on their individual needs and interests. Participants also benefit from partnerships that have been established with other agencies and organizations in the community. These include:
Radford Public Library
Radford Recreation Center
Radford Animal Shelter
Pulaski/Radford Daily Bread
Radford Clothing Bank
Christiansburg Aquatic Center
Undergraduate/Graduate Interns & Volunteers
Radford University Nursing Program
Radford University Occupational Therapy
Therapy Dogs International
