www.nrvcs.org/response

There is an abundance of information on the internet regarding trauma, disaster-related stress, and mental health – an overwhelming amount, in fact. This site is a compilation of resources from various sites and organizations, with references to national organizations, as well as to local resources with information specific to the New River Valley. While the Response site is designed to be a “one-stop-shop,” it is by no means an exhaustive list. If you are aware of information which should be included with this site, please
e-mail Dana Schultz. This site will be updated regularly.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health emergency,
please call Access Services at 540-961-8400.

The Virginia Tech Office of Recovery and Support (http://www.recovery.vt.edu/) also has valuable resources. This office serves as the central point of contact for those families and students most directly affected by the April 16th tragedy. They are coordinating the activities of various university functions that have responsibility for some aspect of the post–April 16 event effort.

NOTE: A listing of commemorative events and related postings to signify the one-year anniversary of the Virginia Tech tragedy can be found at www.rememberance.vt.edu.

Also, check out the Community Recovery classes in the YMCA Open University catalog http://www.vtymca.org/Courses.asp.
