MEDICAL BILLING/REIMBURSEMENT SPECIALIST

TYPE OF WORK: Performs detailed reimbursement duties in support of New River Valley Community Services' centralized accounts receivable/billing function. Work primarily involves, but is not limited to maintenance of client and third party accounts receivable and preparation of bills for collection of fees for services rendered by New River Valley Community Services.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1.  Thorough knowledge of accepted bookkeeping principles and practices. 
2.  Thorough knowledge of industry accepted business office procedures. 
3.  Thorough knowledge of state and agency reimbursement policies and procedures. 
4.  Thorough knowledge of Medicaid and assorted third party insurance reimbursement policies and
     procedures. 
5.  Skill in the operation of computers and other office equipment. 
6.  Ability to prepare accurate and timely reports. 
7.  Ability to communicate effectively orally and written. 
8.  Ability to think critically and problem solve within the scope of responsibility.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent with practical experience or college level accounting courses. Associates degree in business/accounting helpful and desirable. Considerable knowledge of computer equipment, medical collections techniques, and electronic claims submission processes desirable.

SALARY RANGE: $23,755 to $37,057 (depending on qualifications/experience)
