TYPE OF WORK:
Performs intermediate technical work
involving the maintenance of an effective
purchasing and inventory control system
under the daily supervision of the
Accounting Manager. Displays a general
understanding of the policies and procedures
related to public procurement and materials
management. Maintains adequate levels of
supplies and coordinates inventory audits.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education and experience
equivalent to graduation from high school
supplemented with college level accounting
courses. General knowledge of modern office
methods and practices. Considerable
experience in purchasing and inventory
control. General knowledge of policies and
procedures of the Virginia Public
Procurement Act.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Good
organizational, verbal and written
communication skills required. General
knowledge of Microsoft Word and
Excel. Ability to understand materials
requirements and choose from several
options. Ability to negotiate for best
possible price. Ability to understand and
stay within supply budgets. Ability to
recommend ways to cut cost focusing on
customer satisfaction, price, and
competitiveness. Ability to provide
assistance to agency personnel in the use of
the purchase order and inventory control
systems. Ability to establish effective
working relationships with vendors and
staff.
STARTING SALARY:
$24,468
