Wage employees are not eligible for participation in the Health, Life, Disability, Virginia Retirement System, and Flexible Benefits Programs.

Benefits for full-time and part-time salaried employees include:

- Health/Dental Insurances
- Life Insurance
- Disability
- Retirement Program
- Annual Leave
- Sick Leave
- Flexible Benefits Plan
- Deferred Compensation Plan
- Employee Assistance Program
- Longevity Bonus
- Direct Deposit
- Credit Union
- Retiree Medical Insurance

Health/Dental Insurances: The cost of individual and dependent coverage is split between NRVCS and the employee. The percent of the split is determined annually, with a fixed amount being deducted from each paycheck to cover the employee's portion of the premium.

Life Insurance: At the agency's expense, all full-time employees (salaried employees employed on a 30-40 hour work week basis) will receive $50,000 of term life insurance. Employees are given the option of purchasing additional amounts of life insurance at the employee's expense.

Disability: At the agency's expense, all salaried employees employed on a 30-40 hour work week basis are offered long-term disability.

Retirement Program: Membership in the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) is a condition of employment for salaried employees working at least 30 hours per week. VRS is funded by contributions from NRVCS and employees. The percent of the split is set annually with a fixed amount deducted from each paycheck.
Visit the VRS website

Annual Leave: NRVCS provides salaried employees with a paid vacation period contingent upon earned annual leave. Employees with less than six months of service earn eight hours of annual leave for each month of employment. Employees with between six months and four years of continuous service at NRVCS earn 12 hours of annual leave for each month of employment. Employees with between four and nine years of continuous service at NRVCS earn annual leave at a rate of 14 hours for each month of employment. The rate of earned annual leave for employees with between nine and 15 years of continuous service is 16 hours for each month of employment. Beyond 15 years of continuous service, employees earn 18 hours of annual leave per month.

Sick Leave: NRVCS provides salaried employees with leave time for personal illness, medical care or illness of immediate family members. Full-time salaried employees will accrue sick leave at a rate of 10 hours for each completed month of employment.

Flexible Benefits Plan: Full-time employees may reduce their tax liability with dependent care expenses in addition to unreimbursed medical expenses that are determined on an annual basis. NRVCS' eligible benefits are automatically incorporated into the plan.

Deferred Compensation Plan: All salaried employees, who work at least 20 hours per week, are eligible to participate in NRVCS' Deferred Compensation Plan. The Plan allows employees to defer up to 25% (not to exceed the maximum allowed) of their annual income for supplemental retirement purposes.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP): NRVCS maintains a contract with Carilion EAP, which provides confidential counseling to aid in resolving any type of personal problem. The program is available for NRVCS employees, as well as their immediate family members.

Longevity Bonus: Each eligible employee receives an annual bonus of $50.00 for each full year of continuous service from the date of last hire in an eligible salaried status. Eligible employees are those employed in salaried positions scheduled for 20 hours per week or more.

Direct Deposit: NRVCS provides payroll direct deposit to the employee's financial institution of choice.

Credit Union: NRVCS is a member of the Virginia Employee's Credit Union. All full-time and part-time employees may join and take advantage of the Credit Union's services.

Retiree Medical Insurance: NRVCS employees who retire after having worked for the agency continuously for the last 15 years or more, upon retirement or retirement due to line-of-duty disability, will have the option of continuing to participate at their own cost in the group medical program provided by NRVCS. Regardless of whether the reitree chooses to continue to participate in the agency's medical program or purchase a medical plan elsewhere, NRVCS will pay $1.50 per year of service to a maximum of $45 paid monthly for the retiree for the purpose of offsetting the cost of medical insurance.
