JESSICA M.

Hi, I’m Jessica.

I’m a member of Against All Odds Clubhouse. I really enjoy coming to Clubhouse, and I have a lot of friends at Clubhouse.

I grew up in Southwestern Virginia. I am family oriented. I have 6 sisters and one brother. They all live in this area, except one sister lives in Indiana and one sister and brother-in-law live in Dexter, Maine. I go to Indiana for three weeks every summer.  Perhaps I will go to Maine to visit my sister. 

I am a certified facilitator for WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan). I have a support group at Clubhouse every Wednesday at 10:30 to 11:00

I live in an assisted living apartment. I have lived there for 9+ years. We are all like a family at the Overlook. It’s a very nice apartment. I like living there. I am also working on getting my GED. Hopefully it won’t be too much longer.

I really do enjoy coming to Clubhouse. It is just like a second home and family to me. I just want to thank all of my friends and staff too for being so good to me. It is a great place to come every day.

Clubhouse has changed my life tremendously. 

I’ve learned skills such as interpersonal skills, positive coping skills and computer skills. I am on the calendar committee.

Clubhouse has given me a chance to spread my wings to have a positive outlook on life.

Who goes to Clubhouse? Who works here? Who learns here?

I learn newsletter committee and consumer empowerment and learn how to be safe from germs and read when not time at home.  I work on the computer and watch satellite TV.  I vacuum the carpet in any room here at clubhouse; I cook in the kitchen at the clubhouse and serve food through the window.  I go on trips and go on vacation and go grocery shopping and shopping to the mall and department stores, dollar general, dollar tree and Wal-Mart.
